About the project

UNICEF required authentic, action-oriented images for advertising to high-value audiences that genuinely reflect its work. The challenge was that, despite their use for campaign purposes, UNICEF brand guidelines prohibit staging any images. This necessitated careful project planning to ensure all candid shots met campaign specifications—including brand narrative, formats, sizes, and framing—thereby guaranteeing their suitability. Additionally, it was important to establish processes to facilitate effective collaboration on similar projects in the future.

My Role

I was hired by VML Portugal to lead the end-to-end production and delivery of multiple photo shoots across Kenya, Cambodia, and Denmark. While managing the project from a project management perspective, I also took on the role of producer—overseeing the entire process remotely from initial planning through to final execution. My responsibilities spanned multiple areas:

Project Planning
Developed and maintained detailed project timelines and organized project briefings to ensure smooth execution.

Production Management
Led the full production process in coordination with VML Portugal, UNICEF headquarters, and UNICEF country offices in Kenya, Cambodia, and Denmark. I established key workflows and coordination meetings (e.g., PPMs), managed all phases remotely, and acted as the primary point of contact to resolve issues throughout pre-production, production, and post-production.

Project Management
Created comprehensive project plans outlining all tasks, timelines, and resources. I was responsible for briefing creative teams and managing internal workflows to ensure timely delivery and image approvals.

Client Management & Processes
Defined approval workflows and streamlined communication between all stakeholders to establish an efficient process for further collaboration on similar projects.

Asset Delivery
Conducted creative and quality checks to ensure all assets met the brief before final delivery. All materials were promptly uploaded to the server upon completion.

Usage Rights & Financial Tracking
Monitored project budgets and managed usage rights to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and financial approvals.

Outcome
